It’s confirmed. A third instalment of “Netflix’s juggernaut franchise”, The Kissing Booth, produced exclusively for Netflix by Komixx Entertainment, is already filmed and will air in 2021.

The Kissing Booth 2, sequel to the first teenage comedy romance that premiered in 2018, launched on Netflix on July 24 and has been at number one in the online broadcaster’s movie charts.

Now we can confirm that shooting of The Kissing Booth 3 has also finished – filmed alongside the second movie in 2019 on location in South Africa. It is now being prepared for release on Netflix in 2021. So watch out for details of the release date!

But what happens? It’s the summer before Elle Evans (Joey King) heads to college, and she has a secret: She got into both Harvard, attended by her dreamy boyfriend Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi), and also Berkeley, where her BFF Lee (Joel Courtney) is going. Which path will Elle choose? The Kissing Booth 3 will reveal all!

“It’s thanks to the fans whose tremendous support and love for The Kissing Booth led to The Kissing Booth 2 and, in total secrecy, filming of The Kissing Booth 3 at the same time,” says Ed Glauser, Komixx Group CEO. “We’ve all had to keep this secret for a long time but it’s because of the fans that this has all happened and we couldn’t be prouder to further enhance our tremendous relationship with Netflix with this third movie of The Kissing Booth franchise.”

The full cast of Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Meganne Young & Molly Ringwald all return for The Kissing Booth 3 – which also bring back director Vince Marcello, who again wrote the screenplay with Jay Arnold. The movies are all based on The Kissing Booth books, written by young Welsh author Beth Reekles.

Producers of The Kissing Booth 3 are once again Marcello, Michele Weisler, Ed Glauser and Andrew Cole-Bulgin. Executive producers are Joey King and Adam Friedlander.

News of the third film was revealed by Joey King during a live event on YouTube, when joined by fellow cast members who shared secrets about the upcoming movie. It can be viewed here.

The Kissing Booth became a hit movie for teenage audiences when it premiered in 2018 – and now that The Kissing Booth 2 is topping the charts, the first movie is again among the Netflix top 10 in markets worldwide. Netflix has previously reported The Kissing Booth was one of its most re-watched original films. Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos has described The Kissing Booth as “one of the most-watched movies in the country, and maybe in the world”.

The original film followed Joey King’s high school character, Elle, getting into trouble when she begins to fall head over heels with her best friend’s older brother.

The sequel’s tagline of “Rules can be broken, but so can hearts” poses a teaser of what’s to come. Indeed, The Kissing Booth 2 follows Elle after she’s just had the most romantic summer of her life with her reformed bad-boy boyfriend Noah. But Noah is off to Harvard and Elle heads back to high school for her senior year. She’ll have to juggle a long-distance relationship, getting into her dream college with her best friend Lee (Joel Courtney), and the complications brought on by a close friendship with a handsome, charismatic new classmate named Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez).

When Noah grows close to a seemingly perfect college girl (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and to whom her heart truly belongs. For more you’ll have to watch the movie on Netflix!
